An Abe Lincoln pardon

 

It is a lasting loss to American history that during President Abraham Lincoln's administration there was no secretary whose job it was to record the stories of all of Lincoln's pardons.

Think of the one that lies behind this simple order penned by Lincoln: 

"Let this woman have her boy."
